On a beautiful January afternoon, Folake and Tobi exchanged vows during a joyous ceremony held at Wesley Methodist Church, a vintage brown-brick building situated in the heart of James Town, Accra. The bride had an invaluable support team which included her maid of honour, best friend, and mother-in-law, who were all instrumental at the planning stage. We love a good team!

Layers of monsteras with pops of vivid orange birds of paradise greeted 200 reception guests from near and far as they entered the ever so lush Savannah venue in the Accra suburb, Cantonments. The Savannah transformed into an elegant tropical oasis, complete with hanging glass-layered chandeliers illuminating throughout the dreamy evening. Blossom, the Fresh Flower People, created a floating sky over the dance floor using vibrant deep green palm leaves. The tables were adorned with gold tones and even more bright birds of paradise, king proteas, anthuriums, and other tropical fresh foliage to set the mood.

We used various jewel-tone details throughout the wedding – in the weaving on the locally handmade guests’ gift baskets, the peacock feather-inspired dance floor, and even in elements of the decadent, global-inspired menu. During cocktails, watermelon and feta mousse, roast beef and mixed berry jam crostini, and mini-Mexican street corn hors d’oeuvres flowed freely. It was such a pleasure for our team to meet Folake and Tobi and plan their elegant day. The lovely couple’s warm spirit was personified by all of the heartfelt speeches given by their guests. It was one for the books!
