Who says you can’t have winter in Ghana? Short of actual snow, we were able to pull off this challenge! Anne Marie and Milad welcomed 600 guests of all ages and classes to their winter-themed wedding in the middle of summer during our rainy season. The ceremony took place at The Ridge Church, with the reception following immediately after, next door at the Kempinski Hotel Ballroom located downtown in Accra’s business district. To set the tone and create excitement, each guest received a custom-made etched mirror invitation.

The wedding was no small feat. Collectively, Lionheart Events and nearly one hundred and fifty staff from our vendors and suppliers came together to complete the décor. With all hands on deck, pun intended, the entire ballroom was entirely decked, and the décor installation took about ten days to complete. The ballroom walls were covered in a hand-drawn canvas scene that portrayed a winter wonderland look and feel. It was icy! Glass beaded chandeliers and crystals hung from overhead, which coordinated beautifully with the tables topped with crystal candelabras and candlesticks, harmoniously creating an iridescent brilliance from every corner of the room.

A harpist ushered guests into the ballroom, where they found welcome cocktails and their assigned seating. The reception included a plated dinner catered by Kempinski Hotel, with each place setting garnished with a white lace-trimmed pouch filled with silver-coated almonds. To keep guests energized, Anne Marie and Milad requested unlimited cocktails and afterparty snacks to flow throughout the night. Guest also enjoyed a special treat with live performances by local bands, R2Bees, and The Characters.

The winter wonderland was indeed a labour of love but a glorious memorable evening!
