We believe that consideration for each element of a themed event produces extraordinary results. We used this thinking to approach a birthday celebration plan for a client who is a lover of Japan and Japanese culture. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, politician and wife of the now-late, former-President Jerry Rawlings, celebrated her 70th birthday with a Japanese theme. With only three weeks to plan, we executed a perfect birthday celebration for Madam First Lady. No pressure! Turning 70 is a milestone birthday worth celebrating, and her children felt it was an excellent opportunity to commemorate their mother.
On a warm November evening, the Savannah welcomed 150 guests, including the guest of honour’s immediate family and very close friends. Once again, we transformed The Savannah. Large-scale cherry blossom tree prints covered the garden walls. Cherry blossom vines in hues of pink and peach intertwined with the ceiling of the custom-built cabanas. We air-freighted most of the decor items used, including the Japanese parasols and lanterns that hung from the cabana ceiling. The Japanese theme was seamless in detail throughout the event. In addition to cutlery, each place setting included a pair of chopsticks or hashi. Villa Grace built custom food stations with a ramen bar, and Japanese-style barbecue grills or shichirin for on-demand flamed grilled meats.
We set out to create a voyage of discovery and memorable experience for all who attended. It was indeed an honour and memorable evening for our team.
